NYSYRs Release Video Demanding Special Election
New Website Stresses Need for Representation in NY-29

www.IDeserveaVote.com

Lynn Krogh, Chair of the New York State Young Republicans, today announced that the YRs have started a new site and posted a new video trying to encourage Governor Paterson to call a special election in the 29th Congressional district.

“Eric Massa resigned over a month ago and Governor Paterson is once again delaying the people of New York a voice in Washington, D.C.,” said Krogh. “Massive spending bills, such as Obamacare are being passed in D.C, while NY Democrats try to find a decent candidate to run for the vacancy. Ultimately, this is another unjust case of taxation without representation.”

This is why the NYSYRs have established www.IDeserveAVote.com for the people of the unrepresented 29th CD. The federal government is taking up so many important issues and this is not the time to be without a voice.

The new site features an ad in which Governor Paterson is addressing Congress emphasizing their theme of “Screw you, taxpayers”, poor polling ratings, and the lack of an upstate congressional representative. There is also a section of the site asking people to sign their names to a petition that will be sent to the governor’s office to make their voices heard.

Krogh continued, “Former Corning Mayor Tom Reed has been in the race for over a year and is ready to take a seat in the House chamber. This popular Republican will be hard to beat in a special election, let alone November. I urge every New Yorker, specifically in the 29th CD, to sign the petition on www.IDeserveAVote.com to demand that the governor put partisan politics aside and return the constitutional right to the people of New York.”

Assemblyman Marc Molinaro (R,C,I – Red Hook) will accept the 2010 “Assemblyman of the Year” Award at the New York State Young Republican (NYSYR) leadership conference. The honor will be presented to Molinaro at Saturday’s Teddy Roosevelt dinner. Molinaro said he was humbled by the award and expressed his gratitude for the Young Republicans organization.

“To be recognized by such an energetic and engaged group is among one of the finest accolades I can imagine,” said Molinaro. “I personally thank the New York State Young Republicans not only for this award, but for their selfless dedication to developing a strong, fresh Republican Party. From my election to public office at the age of 18 to our annual cooperation on campaigns, I consider many of the Young Republicans to be my friends.”

The award will be presented by New York State Young Republican Chair Lynn Krogh. The presentation will follow receptions, panel discussions and training seminars at Albany’s Hampton Inn.

“Assemblyman Marc Molinaro has been a staunch supporter of the Young Republicans (YRs) from day one,” said Krogh. “As a fellow YR, the Assemblyman has worked tirelessly to aid in the election and re-election of YRs across New York State and it is only fitting that our membership voted to honor him with our Assemblyman of the Year award.”

Lynn Krogh, Chair of the New York State Young Republicans, today strongly condemned the members of the New York Congressional delegation who voted yesterday in favor of The Affordable Health Care for America Act, the first stage of President Obama and House Speaker Pelosi’s plan to turn the United States into a nation completely dependent upon government.

“This is a complete destruction of everything that the Founding Fathers stood for,” said Krogh. “If they have their way, slowly but surely the freedoms we enjoy in the greatest nation in the world will no longer exist.”

Voting in favor of the bill were nearly all of the Congressional Democrats from New York including John Hall from Ulster County, Tim Bishop from Suffolk County, Dan Maffei of Monroe County, Mike Arcuri from Oneida County, and the newest member of the House Bill Owens of Clinton County.

Krogh continued, “These people should be ashamed of themselves for voting in a way that will further bankrupt our government and cripple our health care system. The New York Democratic House delegation has proven that it is blind to the public’s wishes to reduce massive government spending. The nationwide results on Tuesday signaled a rejection of excessive mandates and the New York Democratic House delegation should avoid following this radical agenda.”

The bill passed in a rare Saturday session of the House and it mandates that all Americans have health care either by a private company or a government-run corporation. Should anyone wish to decline coverage, they will be fined each year when they pay their federal taxes.

“$1 Trillion is a huge, unfathomable number that we have seen used way too often and too early in the Obama Administration. I encourage all Americans to call their senators to let them know that they have the ability to reject the poor choices of the House,” Krogh concluded.

Lynn Krogh, Chair of the New York State Young Republicans, has released the following statement regarding Tuesday’s special election for the 23rd Congressional District:

“After learning yesterday of Assemblywoman Dede Scozzafava’s “selfless” act of dropping out of the special election, I was proud of her for putting her constituents and the good of the party before herself. But after learning that she has formally endorsed her once Democratic opponent, it is obvious that her support for Bill Owens is based upon her inability to excite the Republican base in the 23rd District. Driven by bitterness, she would rather see a Pelosi-Democrat sitting in Congress than a member of her own party.

“Today, the Executive Board of the New York State Young Republicans voted to endorse Doug Hoffman for Congress. After looking at the two remaining candidates in this important race, Doug will certainly make an outstanding congressman. He has what it takes to stand up to Nancy Pelosi proving that we don’t need socialized medicine or another bailout that will put our government further into debt.

“I urge all Young Republicans to hit the pavement and fully support Doug in the remaining hours of this extremely important election. He’s clearly the best choice to replace John McHugh.”

Lynn Krogh, Chair of the New York State Young Republicans, today welcomed Congressman Eric Massa to his race for re-election, which many say began months ago.

“Eric Massa’s announcement is the freshman Congressman’s way of saying that he really wants to continue not representing his constituents and keep colleague Charles Rangel making the Capitol proud,” quipped Krogh. “His few months in office have been just as unsuccessful as the Obama administration and the time is coming where we will need to get real change in DC.”

Earlier this year, the Republican Mayor of Corning, Tom Reed, made his intentions clear of challenging Massa next year and has already raised over $130,000.

Peter Haliday, Chair of the Steuben County Young Republicans remarked, “Tom Reed’s message of limited government and personal responsibility is resonating with voters as he seeks to represent the interests of his district. This is exactly why he has raised more than twice what any new candidate has raised at his point in the race.”

Massa has not been seen much in his district since being elected and it took him over seven months to post important issues on his congressional web site.

“The YRs will be focusing on this important seat,” said Krogh. “This will certainly be a key topic of discussion on our online show, ‘The Right Hook,’ which can be heard on Wednesdays at 9PM on blogtalkradio.com.”
