The majority of respondents to a Rochester Business Journal Daily Report Snap Poll in March say they favor Monroe County Executive, Republican Maggie Brooks, who announced that she intends to run for Congress against Rep. Louise Slaughter in the newly drawn 25th Congressional District.
Of the 84 percent of readers who say they currently are registered to vote in the redrawn district, an astounding 58 percent say they would vote for Brooks if the election happened on the day she announced her candidacy, compared with 42 percent who favor incumbent Slaughter - an amazing number for a challenger!
Brooks, a Republican, has served as county executive since defeating William Johnson Jr., then Rochester mayor, in the 2003 election. She is targeting Slaughter, a 13-term member of Congress.
